Apple Subscription Devices are enrolled in the Apple Device Enrollment Program (DEP) to enabled remote configuration.
In the event of a breach of the subscription contract, the device will be locked. This can occur due to:
- Late or non-payment of the monthly subscription fee
- The device being sold, transferred, or redeemed for cash under any circumstances
